Love Island 2021: The best brown lipsticks to channel your inner Faye

Want Faye’s look? (Picture: ITV/credited below) Love Island‘s Faye Winter is known for a few things: her no-nonsense attitude, her hatred of pasta, and of course her brown lip looks. The 90s trend is back in a big way, with everyone from influencers to celebs channelling their inner Rachel Green and opting for an earthy lip shade. It’s certainly controversial, with Faye’s makeup choices regularly being debated on Twitter, but no one can deny that she’s carrying the trend into 2021. If you want to master it yourself, here’s how – as well as the products you should try. How to master the brown lip trend To copy Faye’s look, you want to start with a brown liner. Some people prefer to go slightly outside their natural lip line (called overlining) although we’d advise against this if you’re new to bold colours. Instead, follow the edge of your lip, and use a clean finger or brush to blur this inwards. Next, put a slightly lighter shade of lipstick over the top. It should blend in with the liner to create a gradient effect reminiscent of the Devon Love Islander. Some people prefer a matte or satin lipstick, and you can always put a gloss over the top (focusing on the fullest parts of the lip to give definition). As with any makeup trend, don’t feel like you have to directly mimic celebrity styles. A less dramatic brown lip can be created with a product that isn’t highly pigmented, and gives you a subtler, diffused look. Give these products a go and get practising.
