The rap superstar, 34, announced the record’s arrival on social media following months of anticipation, dropping the release for us in the UK to wake up to on Friday. Night that, huh? Drake, who has dominated the charts for more than a decade, was due to release his sixth studio album in January but it was delayed while he recovered from surgery on an injured leg. Teasing the album was imminent, Drake had earlier dropped the album cover which features 12 pregnant women emojis. Cue pandemonium. It features collaborations with artists including 21 Savage, Future, Lil Baby, Jay-Z and Travis Scott. The 21-track Certified Lover Boy includes songs titled Champagne Poetry, No Friends In The Industry and 7AM On Bridle Path – seemingly stoking the famous beef between Drake and Kanye, who released his 10th album Donda a week ago. Toronto-born Drake, 34, has been involved in a high-profile feud with fellow rapper Kanye and fans believe the tune contain digs at the Yeezy designer. Fans think this verse in 7AM On Bridle Path is directed at Ye, as Drake raps: ‘Told you I’m aimin’ straight for the head. Now they “Amen” and “Please” I can give a f**k about who designing your sneakers and tees. Had somebody put you on a guilt and you play with my seed. ‘Trust me, there’s some s**t you really gotta come see to believe. That’s why your people not believers, they all leavin’ ya’. That’s why you buyin’ into the hype that the press feedin’ ya’. You know the fourth level of jealousy is called “Media.” ‘Isn’t that an ironic revelation? Get that address to your driver, make it your destination ‘Stead of just a post out of desperation.’ 7am On Bridle Path Someone check on Kanye 😭😭#CertifiedLoverBoy #Drake— Emjay (@MusaMokoena6) September 3, 2021 Drake on his way home from the studio after bodying Kanye in 7am on Bridle Path #CertifiedLoverBoy pic.twitter.com/wHQCSzgFzL— 𝐑𝐨𝐝 (@R0DRIIGUESS) September 3, 2021 drake really put kanye in his mf place on 7am on bridle path— certified lover boy (@matthewjenneker) September 3, 2021 From the mention of tees and sneakers a seeming reference to Kanye’s Yeezy line and ‘Amen’ perhaps referring to his foe’s Sunday Service, fans were in a tizz over the lines. When it comes to the mention of addresses, some believe that is linked to Kanye leaking an address on Instagram recently, which was quickly deleted, which is thought to be Drake’s Toronto address. Seeing as reports surfaced Kanye was willing to end the pair’s beef if he wasn’t mentioned on Certified Lover Boy, it seems this feud will rage on. On Certified Lover Boy Drake also samples Right Said Fred’s hit I’m Too Sexy on aptly-titled Way 2 Sexy, alongside Future and Young Thug. Drake’s latest is the follow up to four-time Grammy-winner’s 2018 album Scorpion, although in March he released Scary Hours 2, a three-song EP. All five of Drake’s previous albums have topped the charts in the US. [metro-tag-post-strip] The rapper, real name Aubrey Graham, announced the delay of Certified Lover Boy in January with a message on social media that said: ‘I was planning to release my album this month but between surgery and rehab my energy has been dedicated to recovery. ‘I’m blessed to be back on my feet feeling great and focused on the album, but CLB won’t be dropping in January. ‘I’m looking forward to sharing it with you all in 2021.’ Certified Lover Boy is out now.
